BRAT Triathlon Club wins Aussie Titles 2006

WE ARE THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!
BRATS win National Clubs Team Championships at the inaugural SCODI National Triathlon Team Championships held on May 20/25, BRATs scooped the pool winning 5 of the team events outright and claiming podium positions in the remaining 4 events.
The win comes as a crowning achievement for the BRAT Club, thanks to:
* our terrific coaches (John Hill and the team from BondiFit)
* Ian Depree, (the Club Captain of this prestigious event)
* Niki Hale ( the super-organizer) and
* All of you who put your hands up to compete and help out.
Race Report
The Tri Team racing format was embraced by all and given the thumbs up as a great event for both competitors and spectators. The Penrith Regatta centre proved to be a safe fast course with good viewing vantage points, and the organizers were terrific. Each team set off in the swim at 1to 2 minute intervals, and had to work together to support the slowest swimmer. From the bike transition the whole team had to leave together, and then work with each other on the ride. In the run, the fastest three had to cross the finishing line together.
BRATS were ahead of the pack on points for most of the competition starting off with strong lead from the over 45 women and over 45 men who won their events convincingly. At one stage during the Divisional Races, Warringah took the lead, but by the end of day one BRATS were again ahead on points.
On day two, our mixed team came in at second place before our Premium Teams won both male and female events, sealing the victory, over Warringah and Canberra Bilbies.

As for The BRAT Club - what a great way to end the season - not only do we retain our State Title as Club Champs..... We can now claim to be National Champs too!
